A survey conducted by a bra manufacturer shows that around 80% of women wear the wrong sized bra. Of those women, 70% wear too-small size whereas 10% of them wear too large size. Ladies, you might also be one of those women. Wearing the wrong sized bra can be harmful in many ways. Measuring the bra size doesn’t require any professional degree or super-exhausting steps. It is as effortless as eating a piece of cake, easy peasy. You can easily measure the perfect bra size for your breasts at your home. All you need is some materials and a few simple steps.

Know the basics!

Bust size is the measurement of chest circumference taken over the fullest area of the breasts while standing straight with wide-open arms wearing a fitted non-padded bra.

Band Size is the full circumference measurement of the area exactly underneath the breasts.

Bra Cup is the hollow padded firm that covers the overall breasts on both the front and lateral (side) areas.

Materials Required

  • A non-padded bra ( Make sure it gives minimum variation in the size of your breasts )
  • A measuring tape
  • A bra size chart ( Don’t worry, we’ll provide you! )
  • A note copy ( To write down the measurements )
  • And, of course, this article guide for getting along the steps smoothly!

Many women mention their bra size in just the number of their band sizes, such as 29, 32, 34, etc. Band size is not your bra size. Your cup size should be included too! Your perfect bra should have a fitting band and cup size, smooth straps, and quality fiber.

Let’s Get Started!

Step 1: Measure the band size.

Wear a fitted non-padded bra and stand straight in front of the mirror. Place the measuring tape around the full circumference of the area underneath the breasts.

Measure in inches and make sure the tape is parallel to the ground. Don’t place the tape too tightly. You should be able to fit no more than 2 fingers under the band line.

Round up the number to the nearest whole number. For instance; if it’s 28.2, make it 28 and 33 for 32.6. Note down the measurement. Add 4 if the measurement is even (28+4=32) and 5 if the measurement is an odd number (33+5=38). The final answer to the sum is your band size.

Step 2: Measure the bust size.

Place the measuring tape around your chest circumference over the fullest area of your breasts.

Watch out if there are any twists or falls on the tape. There should be none! Also, make sure the tape is neither too tight nor too loose. It should firmly wrap the fullest part of the breasts. Note down the measurement in inches.

Step 3: Find the cup size.

Now, subtract the band size from the bust size.

Cup size is mentioned as the alphabetical letter beginning with ‘A’ for the difference of 1 inch. An increase in one inch refers to the increasing sequence of alphabetical letters. ‘B’ for 2”, ‘C’ for 3” and so on.

The final bra size is the combination of band size and cup size. Example: Bust Size= 35  Band Size = 32;          35 - 32 = 3 inches ( The cup size is ‘C’). So, for this, the bra size is 32C!
